Our vineyard is nestled behind the historic Charles Applegate House in Yoncalla, Oregon. The house was built by pioneers between 1852-1856 and is the oldest house in Oregon still owned by the same family and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The land is on Kalapuyan traditional homelands. The Applegate Family and Kalapuya Tribal members in the area have a close relationship working together in friendship and respect for the land.
The almost 3 acre vineyard is in the Umpqua Valley Viticultural Area and situated on a southwest facing slope at 440 feet elevation among 110 acres of fields, forests, and wetlands.
Planted in 2014, with the help of friends, family, and Nathan Wood’s fabled vinepunk crew, Applegate House Vineyards is owned and managed by women.
“The moment one gives close attention to any thing, even a blade of grass it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself.”
